Hi, this is Shauna Fleming, the founder and president of A Million Thanks. I want to welcome you to our new blog and thank you for your support of our mission. I started A Million Thanks in 2004 with the goal of sending one million cards and letters of appreciation to our troops overseas. Within six months, we reached that goal and kept going thanks to the support of grateful Americans. We have two additional missions, which include granting wishes of injured veterans and funding scholarships to children of fallen military. It is our goal to be the one-stop-shop for military support.
The purpose of this blog is to inform and excite you – about what is going on with A Million Thanks, what is going on in the military lives we touch, and what is going on in the military community. More importantly, we want this to be a place of impact, inspiration, and information. You’ll read stories of veteran wish recipients and how your support affects them and their family. You’ll read letters we receive back from military thanking you for taking the time to write them a note of support. And it is my hope that you will be inspired by what you read here and want to make a difference of your own.
When I started A Million Thanks, I had no idea it was going to grow to this magnitude. We have sent more than 7.5 million letters to troops around the world and given tens of thousands of dollars to veterans and their families. We’ve partnered with Southwest Airlines, General Motors, Nascar, and many other companies small and large to help accomplish our goal of military support. But it all started with one idea, the drive to make it happen, and support of friends and family. I believe we are here to serve others, and I know that one person can make a difference.
